God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS]

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

or: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Resurrectional Apolytikion.

Mode 4.

When the women Disciples of the Lord had learned from the Angel the joyful message of the Resurrection and rejected the ancestral decision, they cried aloud to the Apostles triumphantly: Death has been despoiled, Christ God has risen, granting His great mercy to the world. [SD]

Glory. For the Saint.

Mode 4.

A rule of faith are you, and an icon of gentleness, and a teacher of self-control. And to your flock this was evident, by the truth of your life and deeds. You were humble and therefore you acquired exalted gifts, treasure in heaven for being poor. O father and hieararch St. Mitrophan, intercede with Christ our God, and entreat Him to save our souls. [SD]

Both now. Theotokion.

From Octoechos - - -

Mode 4.

O Theotokos, through you became manifest to us on earth the mystery, which was hid from eternity, and which the Angels themselves knew not: that God, uniting natures without confusion, becomes a man and accepts crucifixion for our salvation voluntarily. By virtue of this, resurrecting man whom He had first created, He saved our souls from death. [SD]

PRIEST

Mode 3. Your confession.

Your endorsement of the godly dogma * gave the Church support and confirmation, * O Metrophanis, and humiliated Arius. * For you declared that the Son is of the same essence * as God the Father, thus confirming the Orthodox. * Holy Father, pray to Christ our God fervently, * entreating Him to grant us His great mercy. O Lord, as You opened the well of Your divinity to the faithful woman of Samaria, and You poured out on her the knowledge of God, and You gave her a God-filled drink, so now send down to all of us the forgiveness of sins, since You are exceedingly good. [SD]

Kathisma II.

Mode 3. Your confession.

You received the tablets of the true faith * on the mystic mount of the appearance * of the Lord, O Metrophanis, like Moses of old. * He gave the people the Law, you the Orthodox * the rule of faith of the Trinity's mystery. * Therefore now all we believers honor your memory, * entreating that great mercy be given through you. [SD]

Glory. Both now. For the Samaritan Woman.

From Pentecostarion - - -

Mode 4. Come quickly.

The woman of Samaria came as she typically did * to draw from the old and perishable well, but instead * living water is what she drew. * For at the site of Jacob's * well and fountain she found Him * sitting there, namely Jesus, the Well of living water, * who gives refreshment and relief from the world's scorching heat. [SD]

Kathisma III.

From Menaion - - -

Mode pl. 4. By conceiving the wisdom.

Once you ruled over base passions of the flesh, * you were solemnly anointed the Hierarch * and Orthodox pastor of the Ruling City and Capital. * O God-inspired Saint, with divine words, as with a staff, * you drove away heresies as if they were wild beasts. * Hierarch Metrophanis, when your work here had ended, * you worthily inherited the divine grace that never ends. * Now we therefore cry out to you: * Intercede with Christ our God * that He grant forgiveness of offenses * to those who with longing observe your holy memory. [SD]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

Mode pl. 4. By conceiving the wisdom.

Let us sing hymns in praise of the holy ark * and the heavenly gate and the shining cloud, * the all-holy mountain and the bush that was not consumed, * the rational Paradise, the restoration of Eve, * the magnificent treasure of the entire universe. * For in her and through her for the world was salvation * accomplished and forgiveness of its ancient transgressions. * Let us therefore cry out to her, * "Intercede with your Son and our God * that remission of offenses be bestowed * on those who rightly are extolling your glory, O immaculate one." PRIEST (from the gate)

Jn. 10:1-9

The Lord said to the Jews who had come to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them. I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." [RSV]

Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless one. Your Cross, O Christ, we venerate, and Your holy Resurrection we praise and glorify. For You are our God; apart from You we know no other; we call upon Your name. Come, all faithful, let us venerate the holy Resurrection of Christ; for behold, through the Cross, joy has come to the whole world. Ever blessing the Lord, let us praise His Resurrection; for having endured the Cross for us, He destroyed death by death. [GOA]

Psalm 50 (51).

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Mode 4. You who were lifted.

The holy Hierarch of Christ, Metrophanis, * the Church's shining lamp, endorsing the dogma * along with the God-bearing Fathers, openly declared * that the Logos is of one essence with God the Father. * He was the first bishop of the new ruling city. * Clearly he had prophetic grace from God. * And therefore let us extol him unison. [SD]

Oikos.

That revealer of God's ineffable mysteries, the mouthpiece of Christ, yes, the great Apostle Paul, seeing the future long before, described the one who would be worthy of the episcopal see of the Queen of cities. For he said, "It was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, and united in spirit to the celestial hosts on high, who with confidence enters the Holy of Holies, and ever draws near to the throne of grace, asking that mercy be given us, that we may find grace to help in time of need." So, duty-bound let us sing his praise, as one who has clearly had the grace from God, and let us extol him unison. [SD]

Synaxarion.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness. [SAAS]

When you had taken the whole armor of Christ God, * as Paul the Apostle said, mightily girding your loins * with the uprightness of godly truth, and when you put on * the divine breastplate of righteousness, O Saint, * and with the equipment of the Gospel of His grace * you shod your feet, which were beautiful, preacher of good news, * moreover taking the sturdy shield of faith, * O Metrophanis, and the godly sword * of the Spirit, the life-giving word of God, * then you quenched all the flaming * darts and arrows of the evil one.
