When the angelic powers appeared at Your grave, the soldiers guarding it feared and became as dead. And standing by the sepulcher was Mary who was seeking Your immaculate body. You devastated Hades, not afflicted by it. You went to meet the virgin, and granted eternal life. You resurrected from the dead. O Lord, glory to You. [SD]

The sepulcher had been opened, and Hades was lamenting, and Mary cried out to the Apostles in hiding, "Come out, O laborers of the vineyard, and preach the message of the resurrection. The Lord has arisen and granted the world His great mercy." [SD]

Standing by Your sepulcher was Mary Magdalene, O Lord, and she was weeping loudly, and mistaking You for the gardener said to You, "Where have you hidden everlasting life? Where have you laid Him who sits on a throne of Cherubim? Out of fear, those who guarded Him became like dead men. Either give my Lord to me or cry aloud along with me. You were among the dead and raised the dead. Glory to You." [SD]

O Lord, who called the blessed Maid Your Mother, You came to the Passion of Your own will and intent. Adam You wished to seek; You therefore shone upon the Cross, saying to the Angels, "Rejoice with me together, for I have found the coin that was lost." O Lord, You have disposed all things wisely. When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

"Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?" Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. "See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher." [SD]

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, "The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles." [SD]

Let us hear the Church of God crying out with a loud proclamation, "Let the thirsty come and drink. The bowl that I hold is a bowl of wisdom. I have mixed its drink with the word of truth, and it pours out not water of Contention, but of Confession." Imbibing this confession, the actual Israel sees God who says, "See, see that I AM, and I am not altered. I am God first and I am thereafter, and aside from Me there is no other at all." Hence will partakers be filled, and they will praise the great mystery of piety. [GKD]

Master Christ, as expiation and salvation, * unto us You shone forth from the holy Virgin, * so as to snatch from corruption the entire * fallen race of Adam, as once You did Jonah * the Prophet of old from the chest of the sea beast. [SD]

Ode vii.

The combined sound of the instruments demanded * everyone to worship the gold, lifeless image. * But the Holy Spirit's grace, which is light-bearing, * incites to shout with awe, "Only equipotent, * unoriginate Trinity, You are blessed." [SD]

Ὠδὴ ηʹ.

Ode viii.

We praise and we bless and we worship the Lord.

Once the triple radiant type of the Godhead * loosed the bonds and bedewed the flame in the furnace. * The three young men then sang praises; and together * with all created nature they blessed the only * Savior and Maker of all as Benefactor. [SD]

Jn. 21:1-14

At that time, Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; and He revealed Himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas, called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his clothes, for he was stripped for work, and sprang into the sea. But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish lying on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish that you have just caught." So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after He was raised from the dead. [RSV]

[Merciful,] Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression.

Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me.

Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged.

For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me.

Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom.

You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow.

You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice.

Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit.

I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You.

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness.

O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.

For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings.

A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise.

Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

Then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings.

Then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. And have mercy on me, O God. [SAAS]

Verse: Blessed are You, O Lord God of our fathers, for You are praiseworthy and exalted beyond measure unto the ages. [SAAS]

When the choir of Holy Fathers convened from every corner of the civilized world, they decreed into dogma the single essence and nature of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And the mystery of theology they clearly handed down to the Church. Let us the faithful call them blessed, and extolling them let us say: O divine battalion, heavy artillery of theologians of the Lord's army; luminaries that shine brightly in the noetic firmament; the mystical Zion's unassailable towers; the sweet scented flowers of Paradise; the solid gold mouthpieces of the Logos; the glory of Nicaea and the splendor of the universe. Intercede insistently on behalf of our souls. [SD]
