For the Martyrs.

Mode 1. The stone had been secured.

O Martyrs, you agreed in your beliefs, and as good soldiers * you were not in any way frightened by the threats of the tyrants; * but taking up the honorable Cross, * O Saints, you came with eagerness to Christ. * And when you finished the course of the race, * you received the victory from heaven. * Glory to Him whose might supported you. * Glory to Him who placed the crown on you. * Glory to Him who works healings for all through you. [SD]

Verse: God is wondrous in His saints. [SAAS]

The holy martyrs suffered painful tortures for Your sake, O Lord; be compelled by what they endured, and heal our every pain, we entreat You, as the only One who loves humanity. [SD]

Verse: To the saints on His earth, in them He magnified all His will. [SAAS]

Mode 1. The soldiers keeping watch.

Let all of us beseech the holy Martyrs of Christ God. * To Him they ever pray for our salvation and safety. * So let us all go to them, and approach them with ardent faith. * They pour out the grace of cures and healings profusely. * They defeat the hosts of evil spirits and demons, * as guardians of the Faith. [SD]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

When Gabriel had uttered rejoice to you, O Virgin, * then with the voice was the Lord of all becoming incarnate * in you whom the holy Ark of old * prefigured, as righteous David said. * You carried your Creator and proved to be more spacious than the heavens. * Glory to Him who dwelt inside of you; * glory to Him who came forth from You; * glory be to Him who through your childbirth has set us free. Kathisma II.

For the Martyrs.

Mode 1.

O Lord, You are the pride of the contest, the very dignity of the laurel crowns, which the glorious prize-winning Martyrs have put on as a garment. For by their endurance under torture they put the lawless men to flight. And by divine power from heaven they received the victory. Through their supplications set me free from the invisible enemies, O Savior, and save me. [SD]

Verse: Blessed are they whom You have chosen and received, O Lord. [SAAS]

For the Dead.

You destroyed the might of death, O Christ, and poured out incorruption for those on earth; and those who believe in you do not die, but live in you. Give rest then, Lord, to the souls of your servants, and settle them with your saints, at the prayers of the Mother of God, granting them your great mercy. [EL]

Verse: Their souls shall dwell among good things. [SAAS]

Mode 1. The soldiers keeping watch.

Give rest, O saviour, in a place of light, in the choir of the Just, those who have passed over to you, for they placed their hopes in you, Lover of mankind. Accept our supplication for parents and children, and justify those whose memory we celebrate, for you are full of mercy. [EL]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

Creation rejoices in you, O Lady full of grace, beholding the miracle of miracles. For you conceived without seed, and ineffably gave birth to the One whom the orders of the angels cannot see. Entreat Him earnestly on behalf of our souls. [SD]

Psalm 50 (51).

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. [SAAS]

Mode 4. You appeared today.

Like a ray illumined by the emanations * of the that brightest sun, St. Paul * who has enlightened all the world, * you like a ray shined on all the earth. * Therefore we all honor you, St. Onesimus. [SD]

Oikos.

Who is able to praise you as is truly worthy? You were brought to the faith by that divine trumpet Paul, the wise Apostle. You were mystically illumined by the word of truth; and he testified about your virtuous works and your steadfastness of faith. Who can extol your labors, through which you firmly suppressed error and deception? From being a slave in the world, you were anointed to the priesthood in the Holy Spirit. You received the preaching of the Apostles, and you shared in their rewards and crowns. Therefore we all honor you, St. Onesimus. [SD]

On this day we also commemorate the holy martyr Major who died by torture.

On this day we also commemorate our devout father Efsevios.

By the intercessions of Your Saints, O God, have mercy on us. Amen.

Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars and light.

Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens. Let them praise the Lord's name.

For He spoke, and they were made; He commanded, and they were created.

He established them forever and unto ages of ages; He set forth His ordinance, and it shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth, you dragons and all the deeps.

Fire and hail, snow and ice, stormy wind, which perform His word.

Mountains and all the hills, fruitful trees and all cedars.

Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds.

Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth.

Young men and maidens, elders with younger, let them praise the Lord's name, for His name alone is exalted.

His thanksgiving is in earth and heaven. And He shall exalt the horn of His people.

A hymn for all His saints, for the children of Israel, a people who draw near to Him.

Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of His holy ones.

Let Israel be glad in Him who made him, and let the children of Zion greatly rejoice in their King.

Let them praise His name with dance; with tambourine and harp let them sing to Him.

For the Lord is pleased with His people, and He shall exalt the gentle with salvation.

The holy ones shall boast in glory, and they shall greatly rejoice on their beds.

The high praise of God shall be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand.

To deal retribution to the nations, reproving among the peoples.

To shackle their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron.

To fulfill among them the written judgment: this glory have all His holy ones.

Praise God in His saints; praise Him in the firmament of His power.

Mode 1.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness. [SAAS]

Come, all you peoples, with spiritual songs and hymns, let us honor the prize-winning Martyrs of Christ. For they are the luminaries of the world and the preachers of the Faith, the ever-welling fountain from which the healings pour out to the believers. Through their supplications, O Christ our God, bestow peace upon Your world and great mercy upon our souls. [SD]

Praise Him with the sound of trumpet; praise Him with the harp and lyre. [SAAS]

These are the soldiers of the great King: they defied the tyrants’ decrees and bravely disdained the tortures. They trampled all delusion and worthily were crowned. And now they ask the Savior for peace and for great mercy upon our souls. [SD]

Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with strings and flute. [SAAS]

All-praised Martyrs, nor tribulation, nor suffering, nor starvation, nor persecution, nor scourgings, nor the rage of wild beasts, nor sword nor threatening fire could separate you from God; rather through love for him as though in bodies not your own you struggled and surpassed nature, despising death; and so you have fittingly received the reward of your toils and have become heirs of the Kingdom of heaven. Intercede unceasingly for our souls. [EL]

Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with triumphant cymbals; let everything that breathes praise the Lord. [SAAS]

Be glad in the Lord, you Martyrs, because you have fought the good fight; you have stood against Kings and defeated tyrants; you were not frightened by fire and sword; when wild beasts were devouring your bodies you raised a hymn with the Angels to Christ and received the crowns from heaven, asking that peace be given to the world and his great mercy. [EL]

Glory. For the Dead.

Showing by deed, my Saviour, that you are the resurrection of all, by a word, O Word, you raised up Lazarus from the dead. Then the bars were smashed, the gates of Hell confounded; then the death of mortals was revealed to be a sleep. But do you, who came to save your creature and not to judge, give rest to those whom you have chosen, for you love mankind. [EL]

Both now. Theotokion.

Hail Mary, Mother of God, for you gave birth to the King, the Saviour and radiance of all the ages. [EL]
